Verdejo

San Millán Verdejo 2015

This wine is named after San Millán de la Corolla in The Rioja, whose monasteries are Unesco world heritage.

Winegrowing region

D.O. Rueda

Varietals

90% Verdejo 10% Viura

Winegrowing

A selection of plots located at altitude ranging from 700 to 800 metres above sea level. The typical soils are stony brown earth with good aeration and drainage.
The grapes are picked at night, in order to preserve all the aromatic potential of the grape.

Winemaking

San Millán seeks fruit and freshness in its wines, essential in a Verdejo from Rueda. Traditional vinification with destemming and crushing, followed by pellicular maceration lasting approximately 4 hours.
Fermented at 14 °C. We seek to hold the utmost respect for Verdejo varietal aromas.
Stirring on lees helps to refine the mouth. The wine is rounded off with a 10% blend of Viura. This helps reduce the typical Verdejo bitterness, smoothing it out to produce a fresh, easy-to-drink wine.
