San Millán Rioja Tempranillo 2014

This wine is named after San Millán de la Corolla in The Rioja, whose monasteries are Unesco world heritage.

Winegrowing region

D.O.Ca. Rioja

Varietals

100% Tempranillo

Winegrowing

Picked from vineyards located in the Upper Rioja, a zone influenced by the Atlantic with poor mixed soils with a specific texture. These characteristics bring out the full potential of the local Tempranillo grape rendering a young wine that displays all the elegance and fruitiness of this varietal.

Winemaking

San Millán is made from destemmed and crushed grapes left to macerate for 12 days at lower than usual temperatures in order to reveal the subtleness and elegance of this young wine, and bring out the fruitiness and freshness of the Tempranillo. It is then aged in barrels of American oak for 4 months to give this wine roundness and sweet aromas of vanilla and its balanced mouthfeel.
